From October 23 to 25, the 2024 Global Battery Innovation Conference convened in Zhaoqing, China, bringing together over 1,500 industry experts to discuss the latest advancements and collaborative efforts in battery technology. As the only annual international conference held in China by the International Consortium for Battery Innovation (CBI), this event, co-hosted by LEOCH BATTERY, is recognized as a key gathering for lead battery innovation worldwide.
On the opening day, October 23, leaders, experts, and distinguished guests, including, Alistair Davidson, Executive Director of CBI, Yoshiaki Yamaguchi, Executive Officer of GS Yuasa, Andreas Bawart, CEO of Banner, Surender S. Kandhari, Chairman of Al Dobowi Group & Eternity Technologies, Spartacus Pedrosa, CTO of Acumuladores Moura S/A (Moura), Prince Elmer A.Reyes, CTO of Philippine Batteries Inc.(Motolite), Micheal Zhang, President of China Region of EnerSys, Wang Xi, General Manager of China Region, East Penn International, Gordon Xie, Managing Director of Asia Pacific of Exide Technologies, Zhang Jiujun, Chief Scientist of Leoch and Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Dr. Dong Li, Chairman of Leoch and Ph.D. in Materials Science, joined to mark the event's commencement.
Dr. Dong Li extended a warm welcome to all attendees, expressing deep gratitude to those who traveled from afar to participate in the conference and acknowledging the significant contributions of experts and institutions driving technological progress in the industry. In his keynote address, Professor Zhang Jiujun discussed advancements in electrochemical technology, emphasizing the need to increase energy density, power density, durability, and safety to support the growth of new energy storage solutions and help achieve “dual carbon” goals.
Alistair Davidson, CBI Executive Director, presented on “The Future of the Global Lead Battery Industry,” sharing insights on industry trends and emerging innovations.

Esteemed researchers and professors from leading institutes and universities delivered a series of insightful presentations, openly sharing their expertise on topics ranging from emerging market trends to specialized technical advancements. Their contributions fostered rich discussions, bridging academic insights with industry needs and paving the way for collaborative growth and innovation.
Throughout the conference, more than 50 speakers presented new ideas, breakthrough achievements, and ongoing research, underscoring the vibrant future of the lead battery industry.
As part of the event, Dr. Dong Li warmly welcomed participants to visit Leoch’s Zhaoqing facility, a top-500 Chinese private manufacturing company with over 1,000 technology patents. Attendees also toured prominent local enterprises, including Marshell and Marxon, to gain insights into new energy vehicles and energy storage advancements. These site visits showcased the region’s innovative developments, inspiring attendees to share their experiences on social media.
On the evening of October 24, a formal gala dinner was held, providing an ideal setting for further networking and connection among industry leaders and innovators.
Following the closing session, the impressive three-day event concluded on October 25. This conference brought an unprecedented breadth of topics, attendee engagement, and academic rigor, sparking attendees’ enthusiasm to accelerate the battery industry’s future growth.
